  • Fired without cause

Was promoted to a sales manager last year. I did everything they asked me to do. I was excited and proud to be part of them. When I asked for feedback they were either vague or said I was doing fine. I was well liked by associates because I treated them like people. I was told to improve my magic score and I did but I was called in this week and told my progress was not substantial enough for Macy's standards. Just like that. Stripped of my job, self esteem and the place I had faith in. I asked if we could get through Christmas. They said no. Many different feelings here but the worse... More...

  • service problem

My wife purchased an expensive purse at a mall in Atlanta. When we got home she found that the purse still had the security device attached. She called the store and asked how the device could be removed. She was informed that she would have to bring the purse back to the store to have it removed. We live in Greensboro, Ga which is an hour and a half drive. Macys refused to come up with a solution for a problem that they caused More...

  • U.S. Uniformed Servicemember Discrimination

I was hired at Macy's as a sales associate, and the mangers had full knowledge that I was a reserve U.S. Air Force officer. I received orders sooner than expected and courtiously informed my department manager, Laura Lawler, three weeks out while I was working a shift. I told her that I could work for two more weeks, so she gave me a HR form to fill out and turn in when I was ready to give my official two weeks notice. Without my knowledge, Laura went to Delores in HR that same day and told her to terminate my job effective immediately because I was going active duty. I was completely... More...

  • Uniformed Servicemember Discrimination

I worked as a sales associate while my managers were aware that I was a reserve U.S. Air Force Officer. My orders to go active duty came sooner than expected so I told my manager, Laura Lawler, out of courtesy. I told her I wanted to give her two weeks notice, so she handed me an HR form to fill out and turn in when I was ready to offically give the details of when my last day would be. To make a long story short, my job was terminated that day by Laura and Delores in Human Resources, without my knowledge. When I finally discovered discrepencis with my schedule and Macy's card, I... • ATTENTION, MACYS.COM AND CUSTOMER SERVICE COMBINED WILL RUIN YOUR DAY:-)

I wanted to buy a set of sunham bath towels that were on a good discount. I added them to my basket and saw that if I purchase $99 worth of goods I can get free shipping. So I spent the following hour browsing bedding sets and after finally picking one and adding it to my basket, for some reason the promotion on the towels had gone and the price tripled. Disappointed, I called customer service at 11am. THEY ARE THE WORST BUNCH OF NON- ENGLISH SPEAKING FARM ANIMALS EVER!!! They did not understand English clearly and when they finally understood what had happened 90 minutes later they... More...

  • Macys Dept Store

My wife interviewd for a job at Macys. It took HOURS to fill out the pathetic app on line. 12 pages for a minimum wage job??? REALLY??? Then she was called in and waited 45 minutes while 3 other people passed her up. ONE was hired on the spot and it took her over a half hour to fill out the hiring form because she could not spell to save her life! My wife finally gets called and her interview is delayed because nobody now can interview because they're either out to lunch or in a meeting. Finally a woman comes in and she's reading off a piece of paper generic questions to ask her... More...

  • Diamond Ring with ever-decreasing diamonds

I purchased a diamond ring in May of 2012, and today (6 months later) one of the diamonds fell out, but when I took it to the Layton Hills Macys store, I was told that I will have to pay to have this repaired because I didn't purchase their ESP (extended service plan). This is horrible customer service, not to mention an extremely poor quality product. I own and have owned several rings but have never had a diamond or other stone fall out nor have I ever had to purchase an ESP to ensure the quality of the products. I am closing my account because of this experience. More...

Not the best choice for seasonal/ temporary workers. They'll lead you on to get you to work those 12 hour days with the chance of permanant employment. All for $9.10 hr. 99% of you will not return after peak. No quarantee of hrs. you may work 10hrs. 1 week and then maybe none or 40. Hard to maintain a budget. Management/supervisors are sometimes underskilled/overwhelmed to handle such a high volume of orders and manage employees who are temp. and not entirely familiar with Macy's practices. Better off taking the other job for $8.00 and 40 guaranteed. More...

  • Management by intimidation

Think twice before ever applying to work at this company. I think standing on a street corner begging for change would be more rewarding and I know more profitable. As noted in so many other complaints that I have seen on this site, yes their training sucks. They sit you in front of a computer for an hour to watch a training video and then put you on the sales floor unsupervised and if you are stupid/desperate enough to come back the next day they keep you. Over my 3 years of employeement there I would either ask questions of other employees to ask "how or why" and if a... More...

  • BEWARE! Macy's is not the company to work for

Actually, this should be a -3 stars because working at Macy's is a joke! I can only speak for my own store and experience but if you are in Houston, Tx DO NOT go to the West Oaks Mall Macy's. The managers are lazy and delegate all their responsibilities to the AST members and then yell at them for not getting their duties done. Speaking as an employee no wonder the turn over is so high. It's the most unprofessional, catty hostile work environment I have ever worked at. Employees are written up for everything from not making sales to not smiling enough (true story). The store... • Online item missing

Was looking for a Tommy Hilfiger leather jacket that was featured on the Macy's online thanksgiving main page for $99 (reg price $450) and couldn't find it anywhere. Used their online shopping list and it worked fine (it got put on my list), then when trying to purchase it it was no where to be found. Called their customer service number (Macy's didn't have a 800 number but had to call my local store). Got put on hold for more than 5 minutes. I wasted time registering to their online system, just so that I could take a look at the jacket and now they have my info but I... More...
