    Was promoted to a sales manager last year. I did everything they asked me to do. I was excited and proud to be part of them. When I asked for feedback they were either vague or said I was doing fine. I was well liked by associates because I treated them like people. I was told to improve my magic score and I did but I was called in this week and told my progress was not substantial enough for Macy's standards. Just like that.     My wife purchased an expensive purse at a mall in Atlanta. When we got home she found that the purse still had the security device attached. She called the store and asked how the device could be removed. She was informed that she would have to bring the purse back to the store to have it removed.     I was hired at Macy's as a sales associate, and the mangers had full knowledge that I was a reserve U.S. Air Force officer. I received orders sooner than expected and courtiously informed my department manager, Laura Lawler, three weeks out while I was working a shift. I told her that I could work for two more weeks, so she gave me a HR form to fill out and turn in when I was ready to give my official two weeks notice.     I wanted to buy a set of sunham bath towels that were on a good discount. I added them to my basket and saw that if I purchase $99 worth of goods I can get free shipping. So I spent the following hour browsing bedding sets and after finally picking one and adding it to my basket, for some reason the promotion on the towels had gone and the price tripled.     My wife interviewd for a job at Macys. It took HOURS to fill out the pathetic app on line. 12 pages for a minimum wage job??? REALLY??? Then she was called in and waited 45 minutes while 3 other people passed her up. ONE was hired on the spot and it took her over a half hour to fill out the hiring form because she could not spell to save her life!   • Diamond Ring with ever-decreasing diamonds

    I purchased a diamond ring in May of 2012, and today (6 months later) one of the diamonds fell out, but when I took it to the Layton Hills Macys store, I was told that I will have to pay to have this repaired because I didn't purchase their ESP (extended service plan). This is horrible customer service, not to mention an extremely poor quality product. I own and have owned several rings but have never had a diamond or other stone fall out nor have I ever had to purchase an ESP to ensure the quality of the products.     Not the best choice for seasonal/ temporary workers. They'll lead you on to get you to work those 12 hour days with the chance of permanant employment. All for $9.10 hr. 99% of you will not return after peak. No quarantee of hrs. you may work 10hrs. 1 week and then maybe none or 40. Hard to maintain a budget. Management/supervisors are sometimes underskilled/overwhelmed to handle such a high volume of orders and manage employees who are temp. and not entirely familiar with Macy's practices.   • Management by intimidation

    Think twice before ever applying to work at this company. I think standing on a street corner begging for change would be more rewarding and I know more profitable. As noted in so many other complaints that I have seen on this site, yes their training sucks. They sit you in front of a computer for an hour to watch a training video and then put you on the sales floor unsupervised and if you are stupid/desperate enough to come back the next day they keep you.     my boss bought my daughter a pair of pants and two shirts. and she has never seen her befor so i told her that my daughter was a size 10 or 11 and she thought i ment adult 10 or 11. she pulled the tags off by accdent.and when i went to macys to return it they did not allow me to and i have nothing to do with theses clothes. and when i told the lady this story she replied " thats stupid" i would really like you to fix this.     Actually, this should be a -3 stars because working at Macy's is a joke! I can only speak for my own store and experience but if you are in Houston, Tx DO NOT go to the West Oaks Mall Macy's. The managers are lazy and delegate all their responsibilities to the AST members and then yell at them for not getting their duties done. Speaking as an employee no wonder the turn over is so high.     Was looking for a Tommy Hilfiger leather jacket that was featured on the Macy's online thanksgiving main page for $99 (reg price $450) and couldn't find it anywhere. Used their online shopping list and it worked fine (it got put on my list), then when trying to purchase it it was no where to be found.
